Location: Neuchâtel, Switzerland (and home office) | 80%-80%

Your Contributions:

• Collaborate in shaping the data diffusion of BFS, further developing content, processes, and tools together with the team.
• Support statistical units in preparing and publishing their datasets and metadata; ensure the smooth publication of statistical datasets on various BFS platforms, especially in the Swiss Stats Explorer.
• Participate in the management, maintenance, and further development of BFS applications in the area of data diffusion.
• Introduce, optimize, and automate diffusion processes for data and metadata to enhance the efficiency and quality of publications.

What Makes You Unique:

• University degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Communication, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, or comparable fields.
• Solid experience in processing, managing, and valorizing data and metadata as well as in dealing with data exchange formats JSON and XML; knowledge of the SDMX standard is an advantage.
• Ability to collaborate with various internal and external partners, advise them, and support the implementation of their requirements; knowledge of the processes and methods for diffusing statistical and open data is advantageous.
• Proven programming experience (Python, R, or other programming languages); knowledge of Git, and handling of containerization and orchestration tools is an advantage.
• Good conceptual and editorial skills, and excellent knowledge of two official languages and English.

Summary:
Actively shape the diffusion of data at the Federal Statistical Office (BFS) and contribute to making official data accessible, simplifying their use, and increasing reusability. Collaborate with statistical departments and partners of public statistics in Switzerland to produce and publish structured datasets, especially in the form of data cubes, provided through the Swiss Stats Explorer and Open Data platforms. Coordinate between the statistical production departments and the diffusion platforms. Participate in the preparation of data and metadata, contribute to the continuous improvement of processes, and develop automation solutions to ensure more reliable and efficient data publication. With your expertise and team spirit, you will make an important contribution to the modernization of statistical data diffusion in Switzerland. Help provide high-quality, open, and easily usable data for authorities, businesses, research, and the public.
