Job Description
ANAVIA specializes in the design, development & manufacturing of vertical takeoff & landing (VTOL) systems of up to 500 kilograms. The company offers industry leading unmanned helicopter systems for various mission profiles, such as Surveillance & Reconnaissance, Inspection or Mapping & Cargo.
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus. • Experience: minimum 3-5 years of proven experience in RF system design, development, and integration. • Experience with UAV/UAS communication systems or aerospace RF applications preferred. Hands-on experience with RF test equipment including spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, signal generators, and antenna test chambers. • Skills: strong understanding of RF principles, propagation theory, modulation techniques, and communication protocols. • Proficiency with RF simulation and analysis tools (e.g. CST, STK, or equivalent). Knowledge of datalink standards and protocols (e.g. STANAG 4586, Video/Data links). • Experience with antenna design, selection for airborne applications and testing methodologies. Familiarity with frequency regulations and spectrum management. • Hands-on problem-solving skills and ability to support both design and production activities. Willingness to work in both office and production floor environments. • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and certification standards for unmanned aircraft (e.g., FAA Part 107, EASA regulations, RTCA DO-160). • Communication: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. • Language: Good language skills in English (oral and written). German desirable.
Key Tasks
• RF System Design & Development
- Design and develop RF communication systems and datalink architectures for VTOL UAV platforms operating in the 50-750 kg MTOW range.
- Perform RF link budget analysis, antenna selection, and system performance modeling.
- Design and optimize telemetry, command and control, and payload data transmission systems.
- Develop RF system specifications and interface requirements documentation.
• Integration & Testing
- Lead integration of RF/datalink systems with aircraft avionics and ground control stations.
- Conduct RF system testing, including radiated and conducted emissions, susceptibility testing, and interference analysis.
- Perform flight test support and validation of RF system performance in operational environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve RF performance issues during development, integration, and field operations.
• System Analysis & Optimization
- Analyze RF propagation characteristics and develop mitigation strategies for multipath, interference, and jamming scenarios.
- Optimize antenna placement and orientation to minimize interference with aircraft structures and other systems.
- Evaluate emerging RF technologies and datalink standards for potential integration into future platforms.
• Documentation & Compliance
- Provide technical guidance for documentation and operational procedures.
- Support regulatory compliance activities including frequency coordination and certification requirements.
- Maintain technical documentation including design specifications, test reports, and configuration management records.
• Collaboration
- Coordinate with payload integration teams to ensure compatibility with customer sensor and communication equipment.
- Interface with suppliers for RF component selection and procurement.
- From mission requirements derive datalink specifications and solutions.
- Support customer demonstrations, training, and field support activities.
