As a division within the METTLER TOLEDO Group, Process Analytics MTPRO is a leading provider of field instruments for analyzing liquids and gases in the process industry. At our headquarters in Urdorf, we develop and produce high-quality sensors for the control of production processes, which we sell worldwide through our own market organization. To strengthen the team, we are looking for an enthusiastic person as Database Engineer 100% (all genders).

In the role of Application Engineer, you are part of our vision towards Automation and Digitalization in Production. You will be part of the Software Engineering team within Industrial Engineering in Operations. In collaboration with members of other divisions (Automation, Production, Quality and Process Engineering), you will help shape and develop the future direction in terms of process automation & data management and drive forward the digitalization & standardization of the Urdorf site.

In this role, you will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Manage software solutions, interfaces applications for data management, databases, and MES/ERP interfaces in production.
  • Creation and management of databases in test and production environments.
  • Responsible for printing and labeling applications, layouts and printing server maintenance.
  • Manage ERP/MES data configuration, administration modifications, and users' management systems.
  • Software repositories management and versioning system.
  • Support projects for industrialization on new/retrofit equipment.
  • Act as 2nd level support for production issues and disturbances related to software, production applications, databases, and equipment connectivity.
  • Ensure complete documentation and management of software solutions in the production environment.

What You Need to Succeed

We have the following requirements for this position:

  • Degree in computer science, preferably with experience in database management and development.
  • Understanding of IT solutions, SQL databases, and experience with IoT communication protocols (OPC-UA, Modbus) and SAP systems.
  • Knowledge of database systems (MSSQL, ODBC, MS Access).
  • Experience in Azure DevOps and git management is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Very good written and spoken English and German skills.
