According to the decision to introduce cantonal Data Governance (RRB No. 444/2026), data should be systematically managed and developed in terms of quality, availability, and use. This will create the foundation for data-driven decisions, multipurpose data usage, and responsible use of new technologies, especially in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
The Statistical Office serves as the cantonal 'Center of Competence for Data' coordinating Data Governance in the cantonal administration of Zurich. It supports directorates and the state chancellery with expert advice and centralized services in the further development of cantonal data maturity.
As part of this center of competence, you will help build the nervous system through which the Canton of Zurich systematically manages its data for the first time.

We are looking for a Data Enabler, Specialist in Data Governance (80-100%) starting September 2026 or by agreement.

Your tasks

• Advise Data Owners and Data Stewards on data management issues.
• Design training and empowerment formats that strengthen data literacy and promote a vibrant data culture.
• Support organizational units in implementing Data Governance guidelines and in their data projects.
• Assist organizational units in mapping their data landscape in the data catalog, thereby establishing the basis for targeted further development.
• Contribute your practical experience to improving standards, methods, and tools of Data Governance.

Your profile

• Solid experience and practical skills in the areas of Data Governance, Data Management, and data-related digitalization.
• Knowledge of common frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM) is an advantage.
• University degree in Data Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable qualification.
• Strong skills in business analysis and communication.
• Experience in training or empowerment; didactics is a plus.
• Excellent German language skills, both written and oral.
